Albert Hera, pseudonym of Alberto Quarello (Collegno, August 29, 1967), began studying as a saxophonist and later discovered in the voice his true “instrument.”
During his career he met Bobby McFerrin, with whom he collaborated on his improvised opera “Bobble” and on the album VOCAbuLarieS, called by critics one of the greatest masterpieces of choral music of the 21st century.
Among other prominent personalities, he collaborates in various projects both in scientific research with Prof. Franco Fussi and artistically with Roger Treece, Paolo Fresu, Gegè Telesforo, Swingle Singers, London Vocal Project and Steven Mercurio just to name a few.
His quest as a “storyteller of sounds,” lead him to define a true “neo-language” that encompasses the ability to lead the listener to imagine faraway places, scents, dances and people, weaving, through improvisation, unique and sometimes epic plots and tales. He has always been side by side with the teaching profession, pursuing, for many years, a philosophy related to singing, both individually and in a circle.
In 2006 he built the CircleLand teaching project, a new way of conceiving choral singing in a circle (circlesinging). During his many travels, he succeeded in making circlesing known in Italy and abroad.
With his knowledge and skills, he has become one of the most prominent planners and consultants in the field of events, publishing and training, related to voice and singing. Among his innovative projects are CircleLand Festival, the world’s first and only event based on the power and great energy of the circle where voice, dance and percussion are the protagonists, and Siing Magazine the world’s first quarterly magazine in dual language Italian/English that talks about singing at 360°.
Since 2017, he has been the artistic director of the International Conference “The Artistic Voice” conceived by Prof. Franco Fussi, which is held in Ravenna at the Dante Alighieri Theater every two years, and he is the artistic direction and conception consultant for one of the most important Italian Jazz festivals, the “Moncalieri Jazz Festival.”
It was in 2020 that he participated in the innovative TV show “Voice Anatomy,” broadcast on Rai 2, hosted by Pino Insegno, as a soundteller, whose job is to narrate, improvising with his sounds, the topics proposed in the studio.
Every day I meet Unique Voices that like dancing flowers, bloom and radiate with their colors my path in song. Every day I try to water with “sound water” what I encounter, trying to cultivate with experience and passion, a meadow called Life.
I am a Traveler of sound worlds, I try to weave of vocal textures,
Painting timeless stories in the air.
I free my soul through sudden melodies.
The Sound Teller, the spirit that resides in me, becomes a bridge between my sonic heart and the infinite.
